It appears to be some kind of problem that many exotic solar technologies we're experimenting with like thin-film and perovskite cells *do in fact* use toxic compounds, thus "solar panels use toxic compounds" is a true fact in isolation. But in practice, those panels are rare in commercial use.

While waiting on my kid's Book It pizza at Pizza hut, a guy said "cool hair!" And commented how he had the same haircut back in the 90s and I went "Yeah... And now they're playing Pearl Jam in the grocery store" Both of us got that withering into a husk look on our face.
