I hate this tech. At SFF cons, I usually encounter a subset of middle aged white men who approach me & say stuff like "Clarkesworld really likes your stories for some reason, I don't have much luck even though I write about math," w/ a weird & bitter undercurrent. Now they can plagiarize my stuff 🙄

Put in the work to learn math, and be inspired from whatever thoughts it brings up within your mind, if you want to write in these subgenres. Come up with ideas on your own.

Not calling this person out bc they deleted the comment, but someone commented on a post I made saying they use AI to outline mathfiction & scifi. Horrified by this. My own published stories have been scraped for training by these companies. Using this tech for writing is engaging w/ plagiarism.

30 minutes of "Association for Human Mathematics and related topics" presentation (at Sissa) plus one hour of discussion last Tuesday were enough to make me tired the whole week. So thankful I negotiated 30 uninterrupted minutes, though. Students and postdocs had the best comments.
