I feel like every trans person who went through these assessments has one of these lines seared into my memory. Mine was “Jennifer is living successfully as a woman” right after describing my breasts which definitely didn’t need examining for a genital surgery referral.

Informed consent is right because everyone deserves bodily autonomy and self determination, but it’s also right because reducing the number of people in health systems with power over trans people reduces the amount of us who experience sexual violence at the hands of health systems.

Been reflecting on this and my mood this week. It’s six weeks since I left my job and half of that was filled with my grandfather’s passing but I feel like I’m noticing progress in my recovery from burnout. There’s more euphoria in my life, more unloaded joy.
