Some transit fares out there ARE too high, but often fare cost isn’t really a barrier to ridership for many/most. POOR SERVICE IS. The better idea may be making transit free for kids, seniors and those who really can’t afford it, but not for everyone. The specific answer depends on local details. 2/

In cities where there isn’t likely to be investment available for badly needed service improvements AND free fares (sadly, that’s MOST cities), I strongly prefer strategic ridership-focused SERVICE IMPROVEMENTS, along with reasonable fares (and free fares for under 18, over 60, and low income). 3/

Remember, don’t waste any time arguing whether #ClimateChange “caused” the California wildfires. Like every consequence of the #ClimateCrisis, we know that #wildfires are made much more LIKELY, and much WORSE, by the rapidly changing conditions from Climate Change. More likely and worse.
