I am well aware that across multiple academic communities I have a reputation as someone who works really hard, perhaps bordering on workaholic. My suggestion to anybody entering academia (or already in): don't become a workaholic if you can help it. It's a job, a lovely job, but a job nonetheless

Sometimes, examiners mistakenly believe that if a student is proficient in English, that conducting testing in English is sufficient. However, Multilingual students often only score below average because of their speech patterns influenced by their native language.

Multilingual Learners are more than 3.5 times as likely as their English as first language peers to be misdiagnosed with a learning disability. This isn’t a coincidence. It’s a pattern.
