It's not just that people aren't applying rational thinking, it's that they don't *want* to. They actively gravitate to people & ideologies who give them permission not to.

Trump's Justice Department goes after blacks & Muslims. ICE goes after Latinos. Trump's allies at Meta try to undercut No Kings. The forces of authoritarianism are using racism, nativism, & intimidation to try to affect the 2026 vote. The public seems unimpressed. But will timid elites speak up?
