Also most of the “peaceful” revolutions this guy brings up weren’t nearly that peaceful but that’s almost beside the point because his characterisation of history as a whole is just so bad.

Peaceful protest works. Sometimes. Sometimes violent revolutions are necessary and also work. Sometimes peace doesn’t. Sometimes violence doesn’t. Any other argument has no idea how history works and is cherry picking. You get an F for being a bad historian, sir.

One of the things that frustrates me the most about social media is that it lets really ignorant people who have never read a history book just make up nonsense and, because they get likes, tell themselves they are so smart.
