when i am a mother I vow to not just care about my children's lives, but actually SHOW that I care. hyping them up when they do great things, letting them know how proud I am. comforting and encouraging them when things go wrong. giving them guidance when they're lost and scared.

alot of parents will read this and be like "well, duh" but don't realize that this isn't a thing that happens. alot of parents BELIEVE they're this way, because obviously they care about their children. But in reality, they rarely go out of their way to SHOW they care and just expect us to know.

this extends past childhood btw. we don't stop needing affirmations or encouragement or guidance the moment we turn 18. especially when it comes to major career shifts. Congratulate me and tell me how proud you are when I advance in my career. Console and encourage me when I miss out on gigs. pls
