I have shot bolt action, WW2 Mauser k98ks, M1 carbines, Mossin-Nagants, all iron sights and all capable of a 200 yard kill shot. But, I would guess that it was more than likely an AR-15 variant. They are cheap, easy to buy, and lethal.
