I've gone back now and read the transcript of Maher's remarks, and I stand by my initial read. He was unhelpfully and smugly misogynistic. Not sure why such a reaction is worthy of a block.

Your Party welcoming Mark Serwotka is good politics. The TRAs crying because "hIS wIFe ruTH iS a TErf" is very bad politics. A left wing party that excludes socialist, feminist, trade unionist women is an ideologically-illiterate, ahistorical party that will fail.

‘Your Party’ is Momentum mk2. They gather up ‘worthy’ issues until it’s one jump from the back room of the Dog and Duck to the pinnacles of power. Trans is one of their sacred grievances, and women’s objections must be deferred until after power has been seized, any day now. Too little, too late.

It's so frustrating to not be able to follow this. Sounds like a really interesting conversation. I'm so sick of everyone calling "trans rights" "left". - I'm left of nearly everyone. It's not leftist to be totally dissociated from material reality and to deny the basis for class analysis.
