I was cleaning my office and found this envelope sketch from when I was working on the activity book, and thought it would be fun to share... the initial stick figure doodle to figure out layout, the reference I sent the artist, and the final page with gorgeous art by @katserest.bsky.social
Show PostAlways amazed by how artists can turn the crudest reference images and poor sketches into perfection. Here's another favorite, the initial idea for the "Emily explains it all" image, the adorable drawing @marms.art made from it, and then how it finally appeared in the book.
Show PostAnd possibly my favorite magic trick, @marms.art took this absurd list of "vibes" I sent, gave me 4 different options that all pretty much nailed it, and then made the beautiful final cover art which I never get tired of looking at ❤️
Show PostI loved one of the options we didn't go with so much that we ended up turning it into a coloring book page with Jesse and Dylan.
Show Post@evil-owl-loki.bsky.social also blew me away by taking really simple ideas (Casey and Saga watching Night Springs with Logan, the Bright Falls PD having a BBQ) and adding so much gorgeous detail to create these really complex scenes that are so fun to color in.
