Whether or not it is ever going to be possible to make AI "conscious", there is a parallel question that does need to be answered: What are the ethical ramifications of creating something with consciousness and self-awareness, but no capacity for self-determination and no agency.

2/ Token generation is memory-bandwidth bound, so it estimates speed as GPU bandwidth divided by model size, then picks the best quantization that still fits. Works with Ollama, llama.cpp, MLX and LM Studio. I have not tried it yet. About 36k stars, MIT license. github.com/AlexsJones/...

It's insane but now you can just buy access to a frontier model for ~48hrs and have it blast out an optimized impl of another model. Jax/CUDA/whatev. Don't like vLLM/llama.cpp? Claude printed me a Jev-compatible server for Clef in 100% cuTile-python last night. now I can just use it locally forever
