This is why MPs are representatives, not delegates. The public will always be contradictory and fickle. It’s up to MPs and Govt to govern in their interests even if it’s contrary to current opinion polling. The two child cap is popular … u til it isn’t when the costs become known - like Brexit.

Not defending McSweeney at all (mostly because he seems pretty clownish) but the voting public are equally clownish on this, given the polling seems to suggest that the median public position is being utterly unaware that child poverty is greater than pensioner poverty.

Back to being part of Europe. Well done Starmer. BREXIT was a bad decision mainly based on lies and a lot of misunderstanding.
