For today’s #LayoverLibrary, I read ‘The Rush’ by Nathaniel Philbrick, a new work of historical nonfiction that traces how events in California splintered the country and precipitated the start of the Civil War. Definitely one of my favorites so far this year and one I highly recommend.

New from me at Governing. Manufactured housing offers SERIOUS cost savings. A single-section manufactured home costs just 35% of a comparable site-built house. States have a long history of laws mandating equal zoning treatment for MH, but if these laws are having an effect, it's hard to see.

We already have flying cars. They're called helicopters. They're really expensive and there are good reasons you have to have a pilot license and work with air traffic control to fly them. Putting jets on a sedan is not going to result in a better vehicle or transportation experience in any way.
