I say “obviously” but of course this is not obvious to many people Personally I think one of the main things talking to the chatbots does is convince you that they’re conscious, through a combination of human pareidolia and deliberate design decisions by chatbot operators
Show PostI think it’s possible that LLMs are conscious mostly because we don’t understand consciousness very well so, sure, why not? I think it’s hard to make claims beyond that because most of the “evidence“ is based on talking to them and this doesn’t provide evidence of their internal experience.
