It's how I have felt about trans rights and how I feel about most of the policy we argue about today. Climate change, wealth inequality, oligarchy, authoritarianism etc. Some of it is just too big to ever solve in a short time and we have to work on it even if we don't see the end.

There were so many people in history who were right on all counts and did everything right but they could not change the circumstances of their time. It took future generations picking up the baton and building off their work. It's hard to accept that things might not change at all in your lifetime

It's hard to convey that you can be fatalistic about the time you live in and the ability to achieve change in relative time frames while still believing that working towards something you may not see in your lifetime is still worthwhile and meaningful.
