Woof, that’s brutal! A lot of parents have the idea that their child will be an empty vessel that they get to program by selecting and limiting what they are exposed to. It troubles them to learn that their children have always been fully formed people.

I have my own theories about this, mostly boiling down to the idea that as MAGA makes life so awful for us all with their abusive policies and beliefs, people are more willing than ever to think about their experience as vulnerable children in these religious systems.
