Yes, and the fact that they sincerely believe it doesn't make it true, or oblige others to act as if it is. Just as with people who have sincerely held religious beliefs.

I feel the opposite. I don't understand how people I know who used to criticise creationists, antivaxxers and cllimate deniers, in a few years began insisting that a man could literally become a woman just because he declared he was, and that inner feelings took precedence over biological reality.

I think women should have a right to female-only spaces, organisations and sports. If that makes your life difficult, I sympathise. But I don't think infringing women's rights is the answer.

The thing I found interesting is that it felt at the time like there was a lot of talk about public health zealots pushing restrictions but as someone adjacent to the system it was in the PH system that I saw the most reflection on benefits v harms
