I can echo this. Both my parents died before they hit 71, and my one older sibling has dementia. A lot of _my own_ history is now unavailable or disjointed because I can no longer get any help with putting my earliest memories into context.

There was a local Bay area bakery chain that was bought out by one of the big coffee companies (Can't remember if it was starbucks or peets). The claim was that the big chain would use the local recipes to improve their own baked goods. Alas, if it happened it was only a marginal improvement.
