The UK videogames sector seems to be facing a duality: On one hand, it is trying to convince investors that it's a high-growth, low-risk sector so that it raises financing. On the other hand, it is trying to convince government that it's suffering from market failure, so it receives funding. 1/9

And that both need help: we do NEED more levers and ways of incentivising investment in videogame companies, same as we NEED funding that allows "games-as-culture" to be created without the expectation of return on investment. 9/9

Unvarnished truth. This is the one area where I give a crap about games being taken seriously ‘as an artform’.. because as it stands, funds are limited, and frankly select for charlatans. If you’re unwilling to lie about a 10x return, you’re fucked. So liars get funded
