And then continue that conversation to the poor mental health of the nation due to poverty, recession, addiction (gambling!), complete collapse of Mental Health care on the NHS and the death of the pub. A few drinks is fine, but regularly drinking to oblivion is a symptom of a much larger issue.

Yup, and in reply to @heymj99.bsky.social , it is another drug apart from coke that causes damage to those in contact with the user as well as the user themself. Not saying I know the answer, booze is too deeply embedded in British and Irish society.
