Why, in a language as varied and rich and nuanced as English, does there exist no word for a large amount of money other than ‘whopping?’ Is using whopping for everything from the price of a gallon of gas and concert tickets to the U.S. national debt specified in journalism contracts?

I have successfully rid my house of several boxes of acrylic painting supplies! They went to a family with young children who already are artistic. This was the first of, I hope, many boxes being sent to new homes. (I already have friends who have offered to take my cast-off TTRPG books, yay!!!)
