Europe has spent years working toward #VisionZero - the goal of eliminating road deaths. Accepting these vehicles via trade loopholes undermines that progress. We cannot trade away the safety of vulnerable road users for the sake of easier import rules.

The core issue? US vehicle safety standards are fundamentally different from the EU’s - and significantly weaker. They pay almost no attention to the safety of people outside the car. ❌ No pedestrian protection standards ❌ Aggressive front-end designs ❌ Weaker tech requirements
