I mean… Do they not know that their names are linked to each book? That I can see who had the book that was turned in? That I can track them down? #TLSky #EduSky #SchoolLibrarians /end
Show PostMe: We’re not competing in publishing, we’re all in this together, and- Also Me: Oh wow this submission is amazing I will fight my industry besties and perhaps also God with my bare hands to get this.
Show PostAs a teacher, I was thrilled if a reluctant reader read anything, including comics. When my daughter was a volunteer tutor, she had to bring a middle school kid to the library bc he was disruptive. She once picked up a local paper &read aloud a headline about a car crash. The boy came over &read it
Show PostI was just so mad! My daughter already felt ashamed because she "took so long" to learn to read (I think she started reading at around age 5, but she was comparing herself to her sister who got all the praise for reading at age 3) & was losing her joy because of stupid rules that don't make sense!
Show PostYes!! And it really doesn't matter *what* they read. Just reading (whether it's a picture book, a novel, a college textbook, a graphic novel, or the back of a cereal box) opens your mind to new ideas and primes your brain to see things you wouldn't notice otherwise! There should be no barriers.
