Amazing achievement - @curiousant.bsky.social has managed to image an individual ant pheromone dot for the first time. This opens so many new possibilities! arxiv.org/abs/2610.18079
Show PostA truth universally acknowledged: there’s always a smaller staphylinid
Show PostDifferent lab, different continent, different species — same curiosity 🇯🇵 The extensive PDH-ir arborization pattern of a male Sieboldius albardae dragonfly 🐉🪰. The projections are color coded from anterior (blue) to posterior (yellow). Drosophila brain for scale. #FluorescenceFriday Detail images 👇
Show PostFor P. flavescens, the dense PDH-ir arborizations in the brain also appear to originate from only ~11 cells per hemisphere (A). They are located near the accessory medulla and send fibers across the medulla's surface to the lamina, forming a dense arborization pattern (B). #FluorescenceFriday
Show PostAnother 🐉🪰: This time, a female globe skimmer (Pantala flavescens). These dragonflies can be found in large swarms here in 🇯🇵. Its brain is smaller than that of S. albardae, lacks innervation of the ocelli and most of the lobula, but shows broad arborizations of the large lamina. #FluorescenceFriday
