In the late 1800s, "Scorchers" were the fast #bicycle riders - "hot-rodders" of their day - which also included females. Outfitted in bloomers and ready to ride, women took wicked pleasure in a new-found freedom offered by a changing society in which they no longer had to rely on men to get around.
