This turned up in the post today. Should give the more intense Poppy-fondlers I encounter something to think about, once they’ve stopped frothing about the white and purple poppy badges that will go with it.

I went to Octocon in Cork the weekend before last and had a fantastic time. I did two things I've never done before: I sang a karaoke song by myself (Common People by Pulp) and for my reading slot I read from a WIP instead of a published novel. Both experiences were incredible for different reasons!

For today’s @ftweekend.com I am at the restaurant inside the high end Mayfair furniture shop RH London. And it’s chaos. Warm water. Can’t mix cocktails. Run out of hamburgers. Dull food for bored oligarchs who don’t eat. Have a few quotes and a pic of a £22 baked potato. www.ft.com/content/5993...

Felt a similar way when Helen Joyce’s ‘Trans’ was sent to Rob post the war over at The Bad Place. Was a bit warm for a fire so we settled for the skip.
