How many kittens/cats are you fostering at once? It's a lot harder if it's just one or two. It's very, very easy to say goodbye if it's 17 (I don't recommend this number). We usually did litters of kittens and generally the hardest thing was if one died (only happened twice).

The first time I ever went to a shelter I had to walk quickly out because I was starting to bawl. Not cry, bawl. And my partner followed behind me, asking what was wrong. Should’ve been a red flag but I was young and dumb
