21 Oct 1668 (O.S.) // Fireship HMS Providence, 6 guns, ran aground off Tangier and was abandoned and burnt. When wrecked she was carrying Christian slaves who had been ransomed from the slave markets in Algiers to Tangier for return to Europe. There are no reports of casualties.
