Anyone else dealing with bouts of existential dread over an AI doomsday, or just me? Right now experts seem to put the odds at 1-3% up to over 10%. Why don’t they just stop developing new models until the odds are 0%? Doesn’t that just seem like the most logical thing to do?

It's always a "shock" to narcissistic people. I guarantee they've been told very clearly and repeatedly exactly what the problem is, likely for years, but their reaction will still be "I was blindsided! This came out of nowhere!"
