Also goes doubly in the U.S. seeing as we never ratified the Declaration on the Rights of the Child. You have no idea the shocked looks of abject horror I get from international doctors when I have to tell them that in our collaborations.

This is exactly right. Children are an oppressed group! They have fewer rights than essentially any other oppressed group. All of these reactions are a result of that power hierarchy.
