for what its worth, websites being down now is a good thing because it means theyre safe. the patch is scheduled to come out in a few hours and once applied, they can be brought up again

I'd say we should all find out who that guy is but I'm certain other people have already said that, and that line of thinking will likely lead to a dark place to where I should quite likely not really go.

things have been broken for ages! normally when issues like that are found, its reported to the devs first so they can patch and get rid of it before every1 else even knows it was there. this time some guy just yelled it out and all hell broke loose as ppl scramble to abuse it/defend against it

there was a big security vulnerability in php discovered and it became public knowledge before it could get patched, so admins are taking down websites out of caution until they can fix the vulnerability
