Barros is one of the more affordable Port shippers these days. The fact that this bottle had two foil caps & a cork marked simply "Porto Vintage 1996" suggests to me they were hedging their bets under which brand it would eventually be sold. But that shouldn't put you off buying it!

My chapter on "Gossip and Anecdote" is now available in the (in-progress) Oxford Handbook of Musical Biography and Life-Writing! It uses the gossip and conspiracy theories surrounding Salieri and Tchaikovsky to consider the intersections of misinfo studies, composer biography, and musical fiction!
