RN at Sharp (San Diego): Cared for likely early COVID case (onset ~late Dec 2019). Previously healthy 30s pt—ICU, unusual clotting, highly contagious, nearly died. No travel. Hospital reported unknown viral pneumonia early Jan.

We just published a new study on COVID-19 in Ontario, and it turns out, the way we measured cases may have been way off. Why? Because testing wasn’t equal across age and sex groups. That skews what we think we know. In epi-speak this is called “ascertainment bias”. Here's what we found:
