Fungi, moths, botany, birds, trees, music, long-distance walking. And more music, always more music. I most recently moved from Keele, Staffordshire (VC39) and I'm now living alongside the Dee Estuary, Cheshire (VC58). Rob

My favourite find of 2025 has to be my bucket list - Strobilomyces strobilaceus - Old Man of the Woods. I literally did a happy dance when I spotted this during a farm survey! Not yet assessed by IUNC The Global Fungal Red List, this rare to UK species was just the 3rd Welsh record #mycology #fungi
Show PostThis one is on my bucket list as well!
Show PostFirst attempt at Chips and Gravy finished this morning. Now I am back in the swing of painting I am sure there will be many more 😅 Off for a quick walk to hopefully see them, before Christmas visiting!
Show PostWhilst your out looking for Corticium roseum, don't forget to look Cobalt Crust - Terana caerulea that also favours same habitat. Willow is a strong host contender, but you'll find it on 31+ other host species, so odds are far greater of a succesful outing. #fungi #mycology #cobaltcrust #nature
Show PostWhat a morning thanks to a call by my friend have a NFY: Peregrine 😁 He called to tell me the Marsh Harrier was sat in a tree. I was disappointed when he called to say it had flown but then had great views of it being mobbed by a Peregrine! Not great photos, but I don’t care 😆
