Elizabeth Blackwell (1699–c. 1758) was penniless, her husband in a London debtor’s prison. A talented artist, she created an illustrated guide to medicinal plants entitled 𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘢𝘭 (published ~1738). It was hailed for its usefulness to doctors & apothecaries. #WorldWildlifeDay #art #botany
