Mayor Karen Bass: Today, I called on Congressman Robert Garcia, who is the lead Democrat on the Oversight Committee, to hold congressional hearings looking into the abuses by ICE and what is going on with the administration’s attacks on cities. We’ll be having a hearing soon.

It's been a year in Los Angeles. This week @mayor.lacity.gov sat for a candid conversation to talk about it.
Show PostBass: I just signed an executive directive that puts all city departments and leadership on notice to protect Angelenos—essentially from the federal government. We’re also filing a FOIA request because we want to know: Who are these masked men, and why are they masked in the first place?
Show PostBass: We have to stop this mess. The idea of having troops go through the park and disrupt a children’s summer camp, or drive through the streets and just pick people off… So our city attorney is leading the way. We are filing a lawsuit and calling for an injunction to stop this.

I had a great chat with @mayor.lacity.gov this afternoon on the situation in LA and the ongoing deployment of National Guard, Marines, and ICE in her city for the new @ondemocracychannel.bsky.social on @meidastouch.com. I also sit down with my friend @dellavolpe.bsky.social. Join us at 7pm ET!
