What I find striking about this study of >700K older (65+) surgical patients is that only 11.7% had a 'routine' postop recovery. The majority (56.4%) had slow recovery and a significant fraction (21.9%) ended up chronically dependent. Our preop discussions need to be more honest about this. #MedSky
