Just as an idea: something about the new uuid package might be nice. Since you also maintain one in zig, you might have some unique perspective/insight on it.

Status field went from string to a named type and the compiler found four spots I'd missed. I keep the spec in the repo and go back to it while I work, javadoc or markdown either way. How did you handle transitions?

Boolean flags were my default for years because they were the fastest thing to add. Two months on, reading back a flag, I had no idea which combination was ever legal. Now I ask for the check before the goal.
