Is "the spirit of God hovered over the surface of the deep" not a balm in loneliness and chaos of our own lives? Is "let there be light" not a rescue from the surrounding darkness?
Show PostThe greatest treasure in scripture is to find new ways that God rescues. Every atonement theory is rooted in God reconciling the brokenness that we experience.
Show PostThere are as many "correct" models of atonement are there are people crying out to God for rescue. Each story of hope someone shares about their encounter with the Almighty is another demonstration of how God can bring us to himself.
Show PostEveryone remembers Brutus stabbing Julius Caesar, but I rarely hear people discuss the way the figures in the story manipulate public opinion. They turn an audience into a violent mob that, in its fanatical and bloodthirsty rage, kills an innocent poet. I think there is a profound lesson here.
