Clayface: Tom Rhys Harries is disfigured by mobsters, but gets his face back thanks to Naomi Ackie's experimental treatment - with some slippery side effects - in James Watkins' DC horror. Despite a slow start and inconsistent VFX, Mike Flanagan's script has some grisly gags, and is good not great.
Show PostCLAYFACE (dir. James Watkins) DC’s foray into body horror is a slick and gruesomely violent character study that plays like a slightly subdued version of The Substance, with some creatively edited set-pieces and fascinating makeup effects elevating it into a fun new DCU entry.
Show PostWhatever sleep is, I bet it's GREAT.
Show PostThe Social Reckoning: Jeremy Allen White tries to get Mikey Madison (miscast) to go on the record against Facebook in Aaron Sorkin's "companion piece", a tremendous misfire. Deeply dull, dramatically inert, and filled with unbelievable, overwritten dialogue, this is a huge missed opportunity.
Show PostFrank and Percy: Ian McKellen and Roger Allam befriend each other walking dogs in Hampstead Heath, which then blossoms into something more in this comedy-drama, adapted from the stage play. A lemon square of a film that's warm and sweet, tinged with melancholy, and bolstered by amusing cameos. #LFF
