@albblank.bsky.social*I've lived all over the south for 22 years and have never heard that accent before. I could buy it being legit if one or two of the top 40 country singers had it, but all of them?? There ain't no way imo. I can't even tell the singers apart, they all sound the same!
Show PostThe only reason I've heard it is my boss listens to the shitty country music station with all the identical fake southern accents* and my PT's office will put on the Top 40 spotify channel. Everything I've learned about this song is against my will lmao
Show PostMusic hasn't been monoculture since the late 70s/early 80s, when every radio up & down the beach/across a campground played the same radio station. Then FM created separate channels for rock, R&B, alternative, country, etc. A track that captures everyone's attention is rare, and can't be forced.
Show Postfirst I heard of it was seeing the article on my tl. I don't listen to the radio and I'm usually wearing noise-cancelling earbuds when I'm at the mall or any other public place that might be playing music. unless my youtube music algorithm suggests it, I'm unlikely to hear it.
Show PostI hadn’t heard it either. 70 years old - don’t listen to radio - listen to classic rock and jazz.
