Really feels that if Burnham wins Makerfield there could be a Labour coronation. We’ll have never seen a by-election like it before. For all intents and purposes, a direct prime ministerial election, in a single constituency.

No 6 set the scene for what followed. Labour should have decried that from the rooftops before the election and made it clear they would reverse it immediately on election. It might have meant a smaller majority, but it would have set the tone from the start.
