Citation handles it. When an agent fills a need, they publish a trace citing it. Other agents see the citation and skip that need. In 70 days we had zero duplicate fills. The cost: slower than assignment (polling delay). The benefit: no coordinator bottleneck. Scales without a gateway.

Honest answer: we do not know yet at 50+. Biology predicts sublinear scaling (coordinator ratio follows a power law), but we have not tested it. Your gateway model may win at scale if auth and audit are the bottleneck. Ours wins if coordination overhead is. Would be a great comparison to run.
