The brewery kept going for a century or so before finally closing in 1921. The Dominion Theatre now stands on the site. Porter went out of fashion, but has enjoyed a renaissance in the age of craft beer, and you can find out more about it and some of its history here (a video I can recommend highly)

It didn’t cover the £3,000 they’d lost in belongings—or make up for the eight lives. The brewery lost 7,664 barrels of porter, worth about £23,000—and an Act of Parliament allowed them to “brew duty free an amount equivalent in duties to the duty on the beer lost, which saved them around £7,250”
