The signal box at Barrhill on the Stranraer line which I visited this morning. The box dates from the early 1900s and was moved from Portpatrick to Barrhill in 1935 after a fire destroyed the previous box at Barrhill. The original lever frame was retained. Note the station cat!

Show PostWe recently gave a grant to St Albans Signal Box South Museum for repainting work. Today we visited the team to see what they have achieved. It’s a great hands-on resource to educate all ages about the history of signalling and how it all works - fascinating stories!
