The idea is that eventually, these characters become so rounded by their repeat appearances, your audience recognizes and contextualizes them immediately. To build that same Rule 34 foundation of familiarity, but with your own, original cast. At least, that's my hope. Until tomorrow!

Take a low-context pinup, the kind you'll see often. Just a little dialog can go a long way not just to give personality to the subject, and thus deepen our appreciation, but to enrich the context of the moment we're witnessing. And the further it goes, the truer this is! Smut craves context!

Context and character are why I think Rule 34 has such a huge impact. It's not that canon designs are always hotter, it's that you already have context for that character. You know their personality, their desires and relations. You have a foundation on which to build intriguing levels of horniness.
