2/4 Dr. Deisseroth was awarded the Prize for his work pioneering optogenetics, a method that uses light to control activity of specific neural cells by turning them on or off, giving researchers a tool to uncover cellular mechanisms, map brain function, and observe cause-and-effect relationships.
