something that occurred to me is, everyone knows it’s possible to become a musician with work and practice. but you can’t work on and practice music while staring slackjawed at your phone. the real promise of generative AI is the ability to ‘make’ ‘art’ without reducing your slackjawed scroll time

I recently drank an entire 12-pack of sugar free Sunkist orange soda in 36 hours and was feeling pretty crazy and it turned out it had caffeine in it. It's had caffeine forever, apparently! So entirely unrelated to this story, which is also great.

thinking about the 'if I don't like a song I can just modify it' AI music post & along with the way it will increase isolation, it's also such an extension of this ire against experts—this idea that you don't need to listen to anyone dedicated to one field, you can figure it out yourself
