I think he has metastatic *prostate* cancer, which is waaay less bad, although his age will make the prognosis worse. Lance Armstrong had and recovered from metastatic prostate cancer BEFORE he won the Tour de France 5 times.

He is so well-loved and respected as a truly decent person that I suspect his family and closest friends are shielding him from as much as they possibly can. And showering him with affection. As he deserves.
